Gardens, Orchards, and Beehives
Our Gardens and Orchard
Our Gardeners Guild takes care of the vegetable gardens and flowers around our campus. Each year, the vegetable harvest is shared with the members of our congregation. It’s a lot of fun, and a great way to bond as a church community!
We also have fifteen fruit trees on our campus, including peach, plum, apple, sweet cherry and pear trees. We usually harvest once or twice a year and share the produce with our members.
Our Beehives
Saint Ambrose is the patron saint of bees and beekeepers, among other things. Legend has it that when Ambrose was an infant, a swarm of bees landed on his face and left behind a drop of honey, which his father considered to be a sign of his future “honeyed tongue.”
In keeping with this tradition, we have bees, beehives, and beekeepers of our own. Our garden and orchard supply the bees with plants to pollinate and enjoy!
If you are interested in beekeeping or gardening at St. Ambrose, please contact the office at office@saintambrosechurch.org.
