GARDEN, BEEHIVES, and ORCHARD

IMG_0907 (2).JPG

Our garden group takes care of the gardens and flowers around our campus. The gardens are quite productive, and the harvest is shared with the members of our congregation. It’s a lot of fun, and a great way to bond as a church community and enjoy God’s bountiful harvest!

We have 15 very productive trees including peach, plum, apple, sweet cherry and pear trees, which we usually harvest once or twice a year and share with our members.

Children at St. Ambrose get involved with the harvest - it’s a lot of fun, and a good opportunity for kids to see where their food actually comes from.

We invite you to join us in the garden. Contact office@stambrosechurch.org for more information.

our beehives

Aurelius Ambrosius (better known in English as Ambrose), the saint for which our church is named, is the patron saint of bees and beekeepers, among other things. Legend has it that when Ambrose was an infant, a swarm of bees landed on his face, and left behind a drop of honey, which his father considered to be a sign of his future eloquence and honeyed tongue. For this reason, bees and beekeeping are often associated with Saint Ambrose.

In keeping with this tradition, we have bees, beehives, and beekeepers of our own. Our garden and orchard supply the bees with plants to pollinate and enjoy!

If you are interested in beekeeping at St. Ambrose, please contact the office at office@stambrosechurch.org.
